Day Nineteen: "Efforts"

The man in the picture really needs no introduction. There is even a wonderfully descriptive word derived from his name and used in describing endless tasks. I have two things to say to that. The umpteen lunges x 4 sets for each leg can indeed feel Sisyphean. But darn it if Sishyphus doesn't looked ripped in the picture. If that's the result, bring on the boulders, lunges, whatever!

Managed to get an extra jump-rope session in this morning. Got 900 out of the way and went to work. I am not a morning person, so I started off completing 1,1,1,3,4 with a few chuckles before I finally got going.

Lunch was the same as dinner the night before, which was red tuna and scallop sashimi on wild rice with veggies on the side. Good stuff. I can probably have that a couple of times every two weeks or so.

Wednesdays, as always, are my bigger gym day and today was no exception. Got the pull-ups done in the form of squat-jump pull-up followed by 50kg squat super sets. Overhand grip on the pull-up, four sets consisting of 3,6,7,8 reps against eight squats each set. Did a bunch of rows as well with 90lb weights. Curls, sideways twist-pulls for obliques (really works up a sweat). More squats with 32kg kettle bell, more oblique ab work, closed grip push-ups to work the triceps a bit. Then got home, did the side curls, the standing ovations and the sit-ups to finish off the stuff in our exercises that I might have missed. Then did 900 more jump-rope in a timed 10min 15seconds to finish it all off.  It felt great and I feel like once a week I really need this day to push myself a bit by incorporating some weights. I've got a lot of problem areas to work on and I'm being careful not to push myself too much.

I enjoyed the morning set of jump-rope as well. Never thought I'd say that. I'd like to do that from time to time when I can as well. As Patrick mentioned to me on the weekend, an extra jump-rope session might help me achieve better results. As for not pushing ourselves too much so we don't get sick,  I will be careful of that and monitor my energy levels. Need sleep now so off to bed.
